climbing shrub that can reach up to 4.5 meters in length. It has fleshy young
branches that are ferruginous pubescent or glabrescent, becoming glabrous with
age. The leaves are simple, broadly ovate to oblong, measuring 2.5–17 cm in
length and 2–17 cm in width, with distantly minutely toothed margins. The plant
produces cream or yellowish flowers, and its fruits are ellipsoid or oblong,
blackish-purple or yellow to red when mature, measuring 2–2.5 cm in length. Distribution

to West and Central Africa, with its range extending from Senegal to southern
Nigeria, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Sudan, and Ethiopia. It
