Palmitelaidic acid is a 16-carbon fatty acid characterized by a straight-chain structure, monounsaturation, and a trans-double bond at position C-9. As the trans-isomer of palmitoleic acid, it is the predominant trans-16:1 isomer found in cheeses derived from goat and ewe milk. Major dietary sources include partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Functionally, it is both a monounsaturated fatty acid and a long-chain fatty acid. 9-Hexadecenoic acid, a natural product, is identified in various organisms, including Myrmekioderma rea and Curcuma longa, based on available data. This compound contributes to the chemical makeup of these organisms and may play a role in their biological functions. Palmitoleic acid, or (9Z)-hexadec-9-enoic acid, is an omega-7 monounsaturated fatty acid (16:1n-7). It is a relatively rare component of fats but is commonly present in the glycerides of human adipose tissue.
